Gaming log: That's not love, it's preliminary petrification!

Gilbert: School Amour

Objective of this quest: The kids are boycotting school. Talk them into attending class again. (Naturally Gilbert enlists me to impress his new infatuation, the basilisk professor Miss Kathinja.)

Kathinja: That's not love you're feeling, it's preliminary petrification! Gilbert lovingly staring into the eyes of the basilisk because he... can.

Gilbert: How poetic! I'll turn to stone for you, my love!

Gilbert’s new song: Yeah, baby! ♪ I’m gettin’ hard! ♪ So hard for you, baby! ♪

Meanwhile, Bud and his old rival from school, arguing about why they breathe: Student: Ah, so you were breathin' 'cause you didn't wanna die! Bud: So you were saying, 'Whoa, life's s fun, I gotta breathe! Sss-haaa... Sss-haaa...'

Afterwards:

Gilbert: Oh, turn me to stone, baby! Make a statue of my gorgeous body, darling! Gilbert: You can keep me forever! Oh, how romantic! Gilbert: We can do it, sweetness! Let's sculpt our eternal happiness together!

Li'l Cactus

After I got back and reported my recent adventure to Lil Cactus, I found Bud collapsed on the floor downstairs. A panicking Lisa asked me to see the fruit fortune-teller about it, who told me that my cactus was on it, and when I got back home Lil Cactus was indeed missing. Lisa and I followed his tracks from Luon Highway, to the Jungle, to SS Buccaneer, and back home where the pelican had stuffed him into the mailbox. Lil Cactus was gleefully waiting for me with a potion in hand. He felt like he saved the world. :') You sure did, buddy!

Anyway, an interlude about rocks, which seems to be the theme of the day:

Gaea: Rock's legs are always asleep. But we fear nothing. Gaea being unhelpful when Lisa asks them for tips on legs falling asleep.

Gaea: You will understand once you become a rock.

Gilbert: Resume for Love

Cactus diary entry: Gilbert got to travel to a lot of places because he was a stone statue and was sold to those many places. I think he saved a lot on travel expenses.

A petrified Gilbert becomes a statue that is bought and sold, ending up in the hands of the Diggers, who keep him in the mines to prevent cave-ins(???). Unable to move, he yearns, to write a song for his true love Monique, the siren that he broke up with because of her commitment to making lamps to Lumina. Apparently they're childhood friends!

Monique, as well as Gilbert's succeeding ex, Elle, no longer harbor romantic feelings for Gilbert (in their opinion, he's "weird"), but she cares enough about him as a friend that she's determined to undo the petrification spell. Flameshe, another siren friend, teaches Monique a powerful spell, noting that it will only work if the caster is the afflicted party's true love. Monique takes the "true love" angle in stride. She values him as a friend and wishes to support his quest for love! It's surprisingly sweet in a lovers-to-friends way, but I hope they never get together again lol.
